Councilor Gerky Valesco and a group of environmentalists known as the Zamboanga Earth Concern Outdoor Incorporated headed by Raul Bendanilyo turn over Sunday a number of metal trash cans to be put up in the parks of Pasonanca.
Valesco, who believes in the importance of action than lip-service, made a gesture in promoting cleanliness and ecological drive by having the metal bins donated to the barangay council of Pasonanca headed by chairman Jun Julian and the kagawads.
“This is actually the initial turn over of some garbage cans which had been made possible thru the initiative and joint efforts of a proactive group of environmentalists; Zamboanga Earth Concern Outdoor Inc”. Valesco said.
Valesco who chairs the council committee on tourism, culture and arts and foreign relations said “while the government is doing everything in its capability to clean our surrounding, I believe there is also a need for us, the public to get actively involved in saving the environment”.
Meanwhile, Bendanilyo said his group of environmentalists and mountaineers has chosen Valesco to represent their program simply because they have seen the sincerity and working attitude of Valesco.
Next month, along with Valesco, they will formulate a mountain trail for eco-tourism activity in Camp Orlando, Busay. Valesco had already coordinated with the administrator of the property, to make the area an eco-tourism site in Zamboanga.
